Since May 1, 2025, the legal requirements for passport photos in Germany have changed fundamentally. The aim of this reform is to increase the security and quality of biometric photos and prevent manipulation. Since May, the digital transmission of passport photos and passport photos has been mandatory. A registered photographer takes your biometric passport photo.

After scanning the digital passport photos in the photo terminal, you can view them as usual. The passport photo will only be transferred once you have approved it.
3. TRANSMISSION:
The encrypted passport photos are uploaded by the registered photographer to a C5 high-security cloud (Cloud Computing Compliance Criteria Catalogue).
4. QR-CODE:
You will receive a printed QR code, which you present to the office when applying for the documents.
5. BILDABRUF:
After presenting the QR code, the authority downloads your biometric passport photo from the secure cloud using a certified interface.

- E-passport photo working group of photo retailers and photographers: The e-passport photo working group was founded in December 2019. The working group designed the new procedure for transferring photographs.
- The photo association RINGFOTO represents over 1,100 of its own members with almost 1,500 businesses within the framework of the working group.
